GLOUCHEDON

Gawaine declared he would not have parted with his fresh-won horse Gringolet for this castle. From the name, Glouchedon might be Gloucester [Roman name: Glevum] or Colchester.

Probably identical with Glouchedon is the castle of Glochedon, the chatelaine of which was a cousin of the Damsel of Hongrefort Castle. Hongrefort was in or near the forest of Landoine. Glocedon Castle seems to have been near Galdon Castle, and probably both would have been within easy reach of Hongrefort.
