The King of the Isles decreed that any knight who was able to draw Honoree, a magnificent sword, from its sheath would marry Beauté (Biautei), the king’s daughter. Clarete, Beauté’s maidservant, carried the sword around until Beaudous (Biausdous), the son of Gawain, managed to draw it.
