An illegitimate son of Gawaine (his mother kept his ancestry a secret) and a knight in Arthur's court. He was sent to rescue the Lady of Sinadone, which he did, accompanying the damsel Ellen. This character is identical with Guinglain, Lybius being his nickname. Lybius Desconus means 'Fair Unknown One'.
