One of the two missionaries sent, c. AD 166, from Rome by Pope Elutherius at the request of the then king, Lucius, to invigorate the work at Glastonbury. He and his colleague Deruvian have subsequently come to be regarded as the founders of Glastonbury Abbey, though this is an anachronism, as the abbey churc dates from a later period.
