UNDERWATER BRIDGE

One of two dangerous causeways leading to the land of Gorre in Chrétien’s Lancelot. The other was called the Sword Bridge. The Underwater Bridge was also called the Lost Bridge, and it was actually submerged beneath the sea. Gawain tried to cross it during the quest to rescue Guinevere from Meleagant, but he nearly drowned. The description of the Underwater Bridge is used in the Prose Lancelot to explain the Irish Bridge and the North Wales Bridge.
