Layamon says that the king of Wendland—Rumareth—voluntarily subjugated himself to Arthur in fear of Arthur’s power. A number of suggestions have been offered for the location of this land, including Finland, Gwynned, and even Vinland, but the most likely is the country of the Wends—which is now an enclave in east Germany. In Malory, the land is the home of Sir Hontzlake.
